Gabourey Sidibie Joins Cast Of "The Big C" On Showtime

Gabourey Sidibie, the young Oscar nominated star of "Precious" will continue on in her acting career with a role on the new Showtime series "The Big C".

A half-hour series set to premiere this summer, ‘The Big C’ stars Laura Linney as Cathy, a repressed suburban wife, mother and school teacher who struggles to reclaim her life after a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Sidibe, who guest-starred in the pilot episode, plays a smart-mouthed student in Cathy’s class.

Production on ‘The Big C’s 13-episode freshman season begins in May.

Other cast members include Oliver Platt, William Duffy, and John Benjamin Hickey.  It's being directed by Bill Condon.
