Allison Beats Danny To Recording Contract
The wonderfully talented Allison Iraheta, fourth place finisher on American Idol has signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/Jive record label, who also signed season eight winner Kris Allen. Adam Lambert, the talented second place finisher, has signed with 19 Recordings/RCA record label. Third place finisher Danny (my wife is dead) Gokey is so far left out in the cold.
In a statement to RollingStone.Com, Iraheta said the following:
“I think I’m still in shock that this is happening, getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!,” Iraheta said in a statement."
Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO, RCA/JIVE Label Group had this to say:
“Allison was an absolute stand-out this season. Her bluesy, powerful voice, spunky attitude, and edgy star power immediately captivated us and it didn’t matter where she ranked on Idol, we knew we wanted her to join our amazing crop of young talent at Jive.”
Personally, I think Gokey is headed for either a second rate independent label or will be pumping out Christian music. I never understood how he made it as far as he did. At least he didn't win the competition like Taylor Hicks, who next to Danny is probably the worst competitor to make it as far as they did.
