Trailer For Extraordinary Measures With Harrison Ford And Brendan Fraser

extraordinarymeasures-2

Folks, now is the time to invest in the Kleenex Company because when this movie comes out, sales of tissues are going to skyrocket.  This movie is going to be one hell of a tearjerker.

Extraordinary Measures is inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family's future to pursue a cure for his children's life threatening disease. From his working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (Keri Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track.

But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford).

Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug. One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system – and time.

But, at the last minute, when it appears that a solution has been found, the relationship between the two men faces a final test - the outcome of which will affect the fate of John's children.

Along with Fraser and Ford, the movie also stars one of my wife's favorites, Keri Russell.  The film will be opening in theaters on January 22, 2010.

Flipper - The Blog-o-Rama Thanksgiving Show A Day

Image via Wikipedia

Also known as "The New Adventures of Flipper", this television series which began in 1995 (lasting for four seasons) is most notable for the fact that it starred a very young Jessica Alba as Maya Graham.  All four seasons are available at Hulu.com, although after the first season the entire cast was replaced except for Alba (she left after the second season) and the tone and quality of the show headed downhill.

This however, is the Thanksgiving episode from season three, so if you're looking for Alba in it, she's not here.  In this episode the kids Grandmother visits for the holiday and manages to get caught in a wave.  Make sure to visit Hulu if you're interested in the Jessica Alba epsodes of Flipper.

Picket Fences - The Blog-o-Rama Thanksgiving Show A Day.

SONOMA, CA - NOVEMBER 19: With less than one ...

I used to really like Picket Fences when it aired from 1992-96.  Tom Skerritt is an excellent actor.  Watching this Thanksgiving episode made me wish I owned the series.

Picket Fences deals with life in a small town - in this case the town of Rome, Wisconsin; it centers around the Brock Family. Jimmy Brock is the Sheriff of the town and likes to think he's the center of attention. His wife Jill is the town doctor; they have three children: Kimberly, 18, Matthew, 13 and Zachary, 10. A lot happens in this small town from bizarre murders to rape, assault, drunk driving, kidnapping & spontaneous human combustion. It seems that all the crimes that have occurred in the whole of the United States have at one point or another happened in Rome and they have to deal with it in their own quirky way.

This episode, titled fittingly enough, Thanksgiving, has Jill's father arriving in Rome with his new twenty-six-year-old girlfriend. Wambaugh finds his wife in bed with another man.  And so life goes in Rome.  Enjoy.

Father Knows Best - The Blog-o-Rama Thanksgiving Show A Day.

I did it last year for Christmas and now it's time to give Thanksgiving it's due.  Thanksgiving was always a really special day when I was growing up.  It was the one holiday when the family really gathered together even more so than on Christmas.  A day of visiting, football, parades, and when I was really young, an extra day of Saturday morning cartoons, as well as the all important Thanksgiving feast.  It seemed to be really special then as it signaled the start of the Christmas season.

And with that in mind, I begin the Thanksgiving Show A Day with a classic family show--Father Knows Best.  In this episode, when fourth grader Kathy writes a prize-winning Thanksgiving poem, Jim envisions his “Kitten” as the next Emily Brontë.

There are a total of 26 episodes of Father Knows Best that you can watch at Hulu.com.
