The Jay Leno Show Debuts With 18.4 Million Viewers. This Blogger Tells Nasty Critics To Go Blow!

In case you weren't aware of it, the much anticipated debut of "The Jay Leno Show" premiered last night at 10 p.m. on NBC. A daring move by NBC keeps Jay Leno in their family by giving up five hours of prime time to Leno. This morning I read the reviews, and to say they were harsh was an understatement. This is nothing new as he has never been a media favorite. But, after having watched the show myself, I just wanted to say that these major TV critics, such as Robert Bianco from USA Today, can go blow. I enjoyed the show thoroughly. And to those who say that it is just a rehash of The Tonight Show, I say for crying out loud, give the show time. How do you pronounce judgement after just one episode? And considering that he was number one in late night over David Letterman, something that Conan O'Brian has failed to maintain, what is wrong if his show is modeled after what he was already successful at?

I personally found the show hilarious and was happy that I didn't have to stay up late or wait until the next day to see the show after I DVR'ed it. Of course I know that there is no way a nightly show can maintain those kinds of viewers. And I'm sure as lower ratings come in, the cutthroat critics will pounce on that. But, according to NBC execs, they only need a 1.5 million rating for the show to be successful. And of course the show will rise and fall according to what the nightly competition is and who the guest star is. Being taped daily makes the show the most timely program in Primetime.

If you didn't get to see the show, here it is from Hulu.Com.

I have no idea how long it will be up, so if you come to this article and the video is gone, I'm sure they will have other episodes posted. The opening night show had Jerry Seinfeld, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Rihanna. The show took advantage of the scandal Kanye created on the MTV Video Awards when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.

Disney Trailer Wins Me Over With Trailer For "A Christmas Carol"

Jim Carrey's Scrooge on the TrainImage by camknows via Flickr

I have to admit that initially I wasn't all that enthused with another version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey in multiple roles. Now that the trailer has been released I can say that I have enthusiastically changed my mind. This film has all the makings of a Christmas classic, whether it is seen in 3D or not. The images in this trailer are simply put - amazing. Watch the trailer and see for yourself.

We all know the story of "A Christmas Carol":

Ebenezer Scrooge begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk and his cheery nephew. But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.

King Of Fighters XII Review: An All Time Favorite Updated For Next Gen Players.

The King of Fighters XII ArtworksImage by Littlebigplanet-forum via Flickr

King of Fighters, for me was an all time favorite arcade classic. I don't know how man tokens and quarters I dumped into the machines when I visited the midway at Circus Circus here in Las Vegas, or at the arcades inside the movie theaters in the area, but it was truly one of my all time favorites. At the same time, I can admit that until now I have never owned any version of the game for at home consoles, perhaps thinking that they couldn't live up to what they had in the arcades.

But with the graphics that are available now for the XBox 360 and Playstation 3, I was looking forward to the release of King Of Fighters XII. Was it worth waiting for? Could it compare to the arcade game that I used to play? Was it capable of delivering the fun and intensity that I remembered so fondly? To all of those questions I have to give a resounding YES!!!

KOF XII is a game that is not only hellacious fun, a treat for the eyes to look at, a game that can be challenging but not impossible to play, but is also a game that if you're a father with a teenager, will give you endless hours of time with each other as you both engage in battles to be the true King Of Fighters.

Playing King of Fighters XII is like going back in time to tournament fighter history. It will thrill you with fast, smooth gameplay that demands split second reaction time.

King Of Fighter XII concentrates on what gamers are most interested in. There is no story development in this game. Instead, KOFXII is a dream match setup with most of our favorite fighters from the series. KOF XII is thankfully, rendered as a classic 2D fighter. Everything in KOFXII is painstakingly animated in 2D. The backgrounds, though limited in your options, are all a real treat and beautifully created.

The gameplay is mostly about strategic blows. Every movement counts and for every move you make there are consequences. There are many options to avoid your opponents attacks, including multiple jump heights and the ever popular evasive roll. If you don’t master these key features, you’re sure to recieve a beating. In order to fight effectively, I suggest you master the roll.

There are 21 characters in the game. Since there is such a big roster of characters, there is bound to be a little overlap in archetypes. You will figure them out as you become more skilled at the game.

The modes in KOFXII are very basic. You have Arcade with virtually no story, Versus (online and off) and Practice mode. It’s all par for the course, and they don’t do anything special. Fights are performed with a team of 3 fighters. Fighting against the computer can be fairly frustrating at times until you pick the right set of fighters. I ended up finishing at 2-3 countless times.
The real fun is when you are going up against a real life person, be it at home or online. Besides the interaction you have with each other, the fights are not quite so lopsided.

Yes, KOF XII lived up to my expectations and I'll save a mint by playing it at home instead of in the arcades. Here at the blog-o-rama, we look at the blog-o-meter and see that King Of Fighters receives a 9.4 out of ten.

Trailer For Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Documentary

Released during the MTV Video Awards, that is also where I snagged this trailer of Michael Jackson's "This Is It" documentary, or "How To Make A Quick Buck Off A Dead Celeb". The film is being released on October 28 and will only be in theaters for two weeks. Or at least that is what Sony says. Sounds like the same ploy that Disney used when it released it's first Hannah Montana concert video. That as you may remember, was extended after the box office was way more than their expectations. The trailer looks very exciting and I guess it is what everyone wants to see. To me it is kind of morbid. We'll see what the public around the world thinks next month when it debuts.
