A Christmas Show A Day: The Jetsons

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

To tell you the truth, I didn't even know The Jetsons had a Christmas episode until I found this at Fancast.com. The episode is called "A Jetson Christmas Carol". The basic plot is that miserly Spacely (George Jetson's boss) is transformed by a visit from the Spirits of Christmas. If you like the Jetsons, and even if you don't you will probably enjoy this episode.

This episode premiered on April 13, 1985. A little late for the Christmas season, but what do I know?
This video doesn't appear to be on DVD, but if you want a video tape of the show, they still have it at Amazon.com:

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

It's been quite a while since we've had a good crazy woman on screen who is chasing after a married man. Well now it seems that we have one in Ali Larter (Heroes). She is the woman obsessed with Derek Charles (Idris Elba). Beyonce Knowles is the spouse. The trailer looks pretty riveting. Watch it and see. The movie will be released on April 24, 2009.

TrailerAddict.Com, who provided the video, also gives this description:

Derek Charles (Idris Elba), a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage to the beautiful Sharon (Beyonce Knowles). But when Lisa (Ali Larter), a temp worker, starts stalking Derek, all the things he's worked so hard for are placed in jeopardy.

"I Love You, Man" Looks Like A Great Date Movie. Watch The Trailer.

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

From the title of this movie I thought the trailer was going to be another chick flick. Then, as I started watching, I thought, no, this is a guy flick. By the end of the trailer, I realized that this is really a date movie. It has something in it that couples would enjoy together. Watch the trailer and see for yourself.

After getting engaged, Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) realizes he's short on guy friends. In order to correct the issue, Peter begins to go on man-dates.

A Christmas Show A Day: Major Dad

The Gift Of The Major  First broadcast on December 17, 1990.

Starring Gerald McRaney and Shanna Reed.

What is an Eco Gecko?  It's the gift that the youngest child, Casey wants most for Christmas.  Her gift is accidentally sent to charity.  It's a funny episode.  It seems like a lot of Christmas plots involve a hard to get toy.

Presented once again by Hulu.Com.  Incidentally there are 94 episodes of Major Dad available to watch on Hulu.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES’ STAR TREK TO BE RELEASED AS IMAX® MOVIE MAY 8, 2009

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 12, 2008 Paramount Pictures and IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX) today announced that Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, “Lost” and “Alias), will be simultaneously released to both IMAX and conventional theatres worldwide on May 8, 2009. Star Trek, which chronicles the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members, will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. Paramount Pictures will be the exclusive distributor of the film to IMAX theatres worldwide.

Star Trek is one of the worlds most successful science fiction entertainment series and media franchises. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek phenomenon has lead to six television series, ten feature films, dozens of computer and video games, hundreds of novels and fan stories, as well as a themed attraction in Las Vegas. Star Trek has also inspired a following of millions of Trekkies of all ages that span across the globe.

Were excited to share the enhanced IMAX version of this film with the millions of dedicated fans who have been anticipating this release since production began, said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman, Paramount Pictures. The IMAX Experience adds that extra level of excitement to an already action-packed film, giving moviegoers a premium event at the multiplex.

Added J.J. Abrams, Im thrilled that audiences will be able to experience this new, epic world of Star Trek with an incredible cast and mind-blowing visual effects on what is, obviously, the most remarkable film format in the world.

Star Trek combines top Hollywood story-telling talent with space exploration, and each is very conducive to The IMAX Experience, said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. Expanding our relationship with Paramount Pictures to include this film strengthens our 2009 slate, and with the continuing rollout of digital IMAX theatre systems, we will be able to offer the fan-base more locations to experience the epic first journey of the USS Enterprise in the most immersive way.

Both Star Trek and IMAX have taken audiences to far away places they would normally not be able to go, and in this case, its space the final frontier, added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. J.J. Abrams has created a powerful movie that has fans worldwide feverishly anticipating its release. We are thrilled to partner with Paramount Pictures to bring J.J.S exciting vision of this incredible space adventure to IMAX screens.

From director J.J. Abrams and screenwriters Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (“Transformers,” “MI: III”) comes a new vision of the greatest space adventure of all time, “Star Trek,” featuring a young, new crew venturing boldly where no man has gone before. Star Trek explores the early Starfleet careers of future Enterprise officers Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Amanda Grayson (Winona Ryder), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), and Chekhov (Anton Yelchin). A Romulan, Nero (Eric Bana), and a much older Spock (Leonard Nimoy) are influences, as well as Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), the first captain of the USS Enterprise.

"Somewhere In Time": Where Time Travel Meets Love. Watch It Here.

"Somewhere In Time", starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, is one of my all-time favorite tales of love and tragedy.  The screenplay was based on a story written by note science fiction author, Richard Mathison.

"Somewhere in Time" is the story of a young writer who sacrifices his life in the present to find happiness in the past, where true love awaits him. Young Richard Collier (Emmy winner Christopher Reeve) is approached by an elderly woman who gives him an antique gold watch and who pleads with him to return in time with her. Years later, Richard Collier is overwhelmed by a photograph of a beautiful young woman (Golden Globe and Emmy winner Jane Seymour). Another picture of this woman in her later years reveals to him that she is the same woman who had given him the gold watch. Collier then becomes obsessed with returning to 1912 and the beautiful young woman who awaits him there.

It is a haunting story that is sure to touch your heart.  The musical score, which was written by John Barry, is one of the all time greats.  Somewhere in time was released on October 3, 1980.

Bellagio Las Vegas Christmas Conservatory

I figured that since I work at Bellagio in Las Vegas, and get to look at this every day, I would share these pictures of the conservatory here for those who are unable to visit.  With times being as hard as they are these days, that would be even more than before.  Hope you have a happy holiday.

"Powder Blue" Looks Interesting. Watch The Trailer.

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

The images in the trailer for "Powder Blue" leaves you curious as to what the film is exactly about as their is no dialogue until the end of the clip. Some pretty big name stars are in the film, including Ray Liotta, Forest Whitaker, Patrick Swayze, Jessica Biel, and Kris Kristofferson.

Thank goodness for TrailerAddict.Com which provides this description of the film:
The trailer for Powder Blue. Several Angelenos meet on Christmas Eve through chance, tragedy and divine intervention. Swayze will play the sleazy owner of the strip club where Biel's character dances. Redmayne will portray a mortician who falls in love with her. Kristofferson will play the head of a corporate crime organization who tries to convince his former employee (Liotta) not to seek vengeance on his former co-workers. Whitaker, who also serves as a producer on the film, will play a suicidal ex-priest. Newcomer Alejandro Romero will play a transsexual prostitute who shares an unexpected bond with the priest.

Give the trailer a look. It might tweak your interest. The film opens in 2009 but the actual date has not been determined.

A Christmas Show A Day: 30 Rock

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

I guess if you are going to watch a show for the first time, a Christmas show is as good a place as any to start. This is what I did for the TV show "30 Rock", and I'm glad I did. Not only is this a very funny episode, but it actually has a somewhat touching ending.

The plot of the show involves Jack not wanting to spend Christmas with his mother, who is staying at his house after an unfortunate accident (a very funny one, by the way). He decides that on Christmas Eve they are going to put on a live Christmas special. Also, there is a hilarious subplot involving Letters To Santa.

If you have never seen 30 Rock, now is the time to give it a try. You won't be disappointed. This video is courtesy of Hulu.Com.
