Hillary Swank Flies Into Theaters In October As "Amelia"

The story of Amelia Earhart is told in a lavish production that stars Hillary Swank and Richard Gere that will be released on October 23, 2009. Earhart disappeared over the pacific ocean while attempting to be the first woman to fly a plane around the world. This story also delves into the relationship she had with her husband George Putnam.

It is directed by
Mira Nair based on a script written by Ronald Bass. Bass wrote the script using several books on Earhart as sources including Susan Butler's book East to the Dawn, Mary S. Lovell's The Sound of the Wings and Elgin Long's Amelia Earhart: The Mystery Solved.
