When TV Shows Did Commercials

Once upon a time it was pretty common for characters for tv shows to do commercials for their sponsors.  Here are just a few examples:

Dick Van Dyke Show Promo For Kent Cigarettes.

Gladys And Abner Kravitz From Bewitched For Chevrolet.

The Flintstones Fred And Barney For Winston Cigarettes.

The Beverly Hillbillies For Kellogg's Corn Flakes.

Andy Griffith Show For Grape Nuts.

Snagglepuss For Cocoa Krispies.

There are many more that you can find just by playing with YouTube.  I wonder exactly when this fell out of fashion.  I'm guessing somewhere around the time salaries for stars went through the roof and residuals came into play.
