True Grit (1969)
The sudden death of her father sends a young tomboy of a girl, 'Mattie Ross'
(Kim Darby) on a mission to find justice, and the avenging of her father's death.
She recruits a tough old marshal in the person of Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne), because he has "grit", and a reputation of getting the job done.
Mattie accompanies Cogburn, and also a Texas Ranger ('La Boeuf' played by Glen Campell; who is looking for 'Tom Chaney' [Jeff Corey]
for a separate murder in Texas) as the leave from Fort Smith, Arkansas into the Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) to find her father's killer.
I like this last video as it shows the areas used for the filming of "True Grit", both then and now.

One of these days I'll have to write a full length review of this movie. I wrote only a short one at IMDB (it was when I was more or less just leaving comments). Did we see this at the theater together?
There's a new special edition out. I'm wondering if it has enough new extras to make it worthwhile to buy.
We saw this together in the theater more than once. I would buy the special edition, but I bought the other one in the last six months.
Come to think of it, I think we saw it at the drive-in at least once also. The old memory isn't what it used to be. Do you own that soundtrack?
I think you're right about the drive-in. No, I don't have the soundtrack. I think over the years I have probably seen this movie at least 40 times or more.
I have a few of the tracks on my blog at the moment. I'll leave them there for a couple of days. I have one from The Cowboys also.
