reBlog from Riesen2b: From The Writings Of A Sailor

United States NavyImage via Wikipedia

I found this fascinating quote today:

From 1976 until 1980 I was in the United States Navy.  I'm not tooting my own trumpet.  That's just the way it was.  I wasn't there to protect our nation, but if duty required it (and during those years, it didn't) I would have done whatever I could to protect our country.  The four years I spent serving in the military, with everything that happened, could probably make a hilarious book.  Yet, most of the time certainly contained no hilarity or even a touch of drama.  There is a lot of time in peacetime Navy to simply be bored.Riesen2b, From The Writings Of A Sailor, Feb 2010

Have You Heard Of Sam and Kurt?

I know that a minimum of 5 million of you are already aware of the talent of Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider, two Yale students who are internet sensations on YouTube with their videos.  In their spare time they have created videos of some of the best classic rock from artists like Michael Jackson and Journey.

I only became aware of them after seeing them perform on Oprah this afternoon.  All of the voices and all of the performers in the videos are Sam.  Kurt handles all of the arrangements and technical aspects of the video productions.  This guy Sam really has talent and could have probably succeeded on American Idol if he was so inclined.  I'm guessing that going to Yale is more important to him than a worn out pop talent show that most likely is fixed.

Watch this video of a Michael Jackson montage then go to their YouTube page to see even more of Sam and Sam and Sam and Sam...

Your Basic Introduction To The Cast, Characters, And Creatures Of "Clash Of The Titans"

This is a pretty interesting featurette for the new "Clash of the Titans" film, which will be released on April 2 and has Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Liam Neeson (Taken, Schindler's List) among it's many stars.

In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

It looks to be a lot of action and a lot of fun.  One thing I would recommend.  Don't waste your time seeing this in 3D as it was not originally planned as a 3D film.  Warner Bros. only changed it into 3D after it was filmed and only after the success of  "Avatar".  You're going to be seeing a lot of that in the near future and it isn't meant to make the picture a better, more enjoyable film, but only to line the deep pockets of the studio executives.  This movie will be just fine on normal screens.

Here is the featurette:
