I really had no intention of even watching this new ABC show. Courteney Cox was never one of my favorite performers on Friends, and just by the title of the show, which implies a relationship between an older woman and a younger man, I knew this wasn't going to be my cup of tea. I had no desire to watch a show based on Ashley and Demi.
But, I was flipping around on Hulu.com, saw it listed and decided to give it a try. Good news folks. Courteney Cox has really hit her stride, much like Julie Dreyfuss on "The New Adventures Of Old Christine, and has scored with what is probably one of the two best comedies to air on ABC in a long time. Remember when ABC ruled the comedy airwaves with TGI Fridays? At any rate, Cox does a great joy on this show and it is very funny. She is willing to run the gamble of showing her non-attractive hollywood look from the very first scene when she stands in front of her bathroom mirror and examines her less than perfect, aging body. To say she is too attractive to play this role is not only wrong, but it also misses the point as to what we each see in our own fallabilities. The writing is excellent, and overall the show works as a great sitcom. If only they hadn't used that lousy title.
You can watch the first episode of "Cougar Town" here, courtesy of ABC and Hulu.com.
This TV-movie served as a pilot for a proposed "Thor" TV series that never went into production. Because of my last post about ABC's fall season, it gave me the urge for one more retro TV post, and I found this Incredible Hulk movie, starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno at Hulu.Com. As far as TV movies made from TV series goes, this is actually one of the better ones. The title of the movie is "The Incredible Hulk Returns", and according to IMDB.com, this is the plot:
It's been two years since the Hulk has surfaced, and Dr David Bruce Banner is on the verge of curing himself of the Hulk. A device he helped create, the Gamma Transponder, will rid him of his own Gamma radiation, among other uses. Enter Don Blake, a former colleague of Banner's, who is now in possession of a mystic hammer which can summon Thor, an ancient Viking warrior. When the Gamma Transponder is nearly stolen and Banner's girlfriend is kidnapped, Banner must abandon the hope of being cured and rely on the Hulk and Thor to save the day.

Here is a partial description of the episode from Wikipedia:
Olivia's SUV is discovered to have caused a car accident in downtown Manhattan. After the crash, the other car driver involved runs away and kills a civilian, then takes his form, revealing him to be an extra-universal shapeshifter. FBI agents, led by Agent Amy Jessup, arrive at the crash site, only to find Olivia's car empty. Walter, after tampering with the car's equipment, manages to bring Olivia back to "our world," however severely injured and brain-dead. Amy Jessup, new to the world of Fringe Division, is stunned by seeing this and searches for more information on what they do. Meanwhile, Philip Broyles travels to Washington, D.C., in order to present the US Senate with reasons not to shut down his FBI division.
If you have never watched "Fringe" now is the time to do so as it is an excellent series. And if you happen to miss it on TV, you can always catch it at Fancast.Com.
