Mannix: Season 3 Arrives On October 27.

If you have followed this blog for any length of time, you already know that Mannix, starring Mike Connors, is my favorite detective show of all time. Season two was released way back in January, and I am guessing that sales were good enough that they are now releasing the third season. Both of the earlier seasons had excellent video and audio remastered episode transfers, so hopefully this release will continue in the same manner.

Mannix ran from 1967 through 1975 on CBS. It was created by Richard Levinson and William Link and developed by executive producer Bruce Geller. Geller also created the ultimate secret spy show known as Mission Impossible. In fact, if you watch some of the early seasons of both shows, you will see many of the same backlot locations utilized for both films.

By the time Season 3 premiered in September 1969, Mannix was already well established as a huge ratings grabber, and producers responded with an impressive season of great stories, along with a lot of the hard-hitting action that it was known for. Season 2 had introduced Gail Fisher as Mannix's devoted secretary, Peggy Fair, and she remained throughout the rest of the series.

The episodes in season three are:

Eagles Sometimes Can't Fly
Color Her Missing
Return to Summer Grove
The Playground
A Question of Midnight
A Penny for the Peep-Show
A Sleep in the Deep
Memory: Zero
The Nowhere Victim
The Sound of Darkness
Who Killed Me?
Missing: Sun and Sky
Tooth of the Serpent
Medal for a Hero
Walk With a Dead Man
A Chance at the Roses
Blind Mirror
Harlequin's Gold
Who is Sylvia?
Only One Death to a Customer
Fly, Little One
The Search for Darrell Andrews
Murder Revisited
War of Nerves
Once Upon a Saturday

This is great timing for me since my birthday is just two days later. If you have never seen Mannix, now is your opportunity to catch up on past seasons and pre-order season 3.

Universal Studios returns to their classic horror movie vault with a new production of "The Wolfman", starring Beniceo Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. This stylish production of an all time classic bites it's way into theaters on February 12, 2010.

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother...and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Joe Johnston directs The Wolfman, and six-time Oscar®-winning special effects artist Rick Baker brings his design and makeup talents to transform Del Toro into the fearsome title character.

I hadn't heard about "Agora", starring Rachel Weisz, until I happened to see the trailer at TrailerAddict.com. The film opens on December 18, 2009 and will be released by Focus Features. For those who like films about ancient history, this one looks like a winner.

The plot, according to TrailerAddict:

4th century A.D. Egypt under the Roman Empire… Violent religious upheaval in the streets of Alexandria spills over into the city’s famous Library. Trapped inside its walls, the brilliant astronomer Hypatia and her disciples fight to save the wisdom of the Ancient World… Among them, the two men competing for her heart: The witty, privileged Orestes and Davus, Hypatia’s young slave, who is torn between his secret love for her and the freedom he knows can be his if he chooses to join the unstoppable surge of the Christians.
