"FAME" Trailer Makes It's Premiere - Watch It Here!

I'll admit it. I have never seen the original version of the movie "FAME". However, I did see a play that my son appeared in once. At any rate, coming this September is the release of a remake of the film and the trailer makes it look like can't miss entertainment.

A reinvention of the original Oscar-winning hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, a diverse, creative powerhouse where students from all walks of life are given a chance to live out their dreams and achieve real and lasting fame...the kind that comes only from talent, dedication, and hard work.

In an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student's passion will be put to the test. In addition to their artistic goals, they have to deal with everything else that goes along with high school, a tumultuous time full of schoolwork, deep friendships, budding romance, and self-discovery.

As each student strives for his or her moment in the spotlight, they’ll discover who among them has the innate talent and necessary discipline to succeed. With the love and support of their friends and fellow artists, they’ll find out who amongst them will achieve Fame.

Take a look for yourself...

Need for Speed™ SHIFT Coming To Next Gen Consoles

The original EASN and EA Sports logos.Image via Wikipedia

Car racing is probably my favorite type of video game and Need For Speed is one of the best. Now EA is coming out with Need For Speed Shift in September and it looks like it is really going to rock.

Need for Speed™ SHIFT is an all-new simulation racing IP that combines the true driver’s experience with real-world physics, pixel-perfect car models, and a wide range of authentic race tracks. Need for Speed SHIFT takes players in a different direction to create a simulation experience that replicates the true feeling of driving high-end performance cars.

Players are thrust into the loud, visceral, intense, athletic experience of racing a car on the edge of control from the driver’s perspective through the combination of perception based G-forces, the hyper reality of the cockpit view, and the brutal experience of a first person crash dynamic. Need for Speed SHIFT features an accurate, accessible physics-based driving model that allows you to feel every impact, every change of track surface and every last bit of grip as you push yourself to the edge.

The all-new driver profile is the ultimate extension of the true driver’s experience. This system gives each player a unique persona based on a player’s driving skill and style - aggressive or precise. Driver profile impacts how a player unlocks cars, overall career progression and online matchmaking. In Need for Speed SHIFT, how you drive is who you are behind the wheel.

Need for Speed SHIFT is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios in collaboration with Black Box and senior vice president Patrick Soderlund at EA Games Europe. Slightly Mad Studios includes developers and designers that worked on the critically acclaimed games GT Legends and GTR 2.

• True Driver’s Experience – A variety of visual
cues delivers the true driver’s experience
including a three-dimensional HUD that mimics
driver head movement, inertia and G-forces. The
depth of field also adjusts based on the speed of
the car; so when the car is travelling at high
speeds the perspective will shift to the distance
putting the car/cockpit out of focus.
• Driver Profile – What kind of driver are you?
Driver profile tracks the player’s evolution as a
race driver from event to event. This system is
made up of a driver’s personality on the track,
their success rate and any profile points and
badges accrued all of which work together to
create a tailor-made career and gameplay
experience. Driver profile is pervasive
throughout all modes: career, online, and demo
play.
• Dynamic Crash Effect - When the player hits a
static object or opponent car, the player will feel
like they are 'taking damage'. A combination of
visual and audio effects will leave the player
disorientated and briefly disrupt the race.
• Total Customization – Need for Speed SHIFT
features a comprehensive customization option
that lets the player tailor every aspect of the cars
performance and styling. Go under the hood to
upgrade and tune your vehicle to increase its
performance. The visual customization system
allows players to personalize both the exterior
and trick out the interior to reflect their individual
style and preferences.

• Photo Real Cars and Tracks – Nearly 70
licensed cars are available including the Pagani
Zonda F, Audi RS4, and Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.

fictional circuits like downtown London and
Tokyo.

Rob Zombie's H2 (Halloween 2) Hits Theaters In August.

michael myers - halloweenImage by nwistheone via Flickr

For those of you who enjoyed Rob Zombie's take on Halloween, his sequel is only a couple of months away. Set to hit theaters on August 28, 2009, this one looks like it will be at least as scary if not more so than the first one.

Michael Myers is still at large and no less dangerous than ever. After a failed reunion to reach his baby sister at their old home, Laurie Strode is immediately taken to a hospital to be treated by the wounds that had been afflicted by her brother a few hours ago. However, Michael isn't too far off and will continue his murdering 'Halloween' rampage until he gets his sister all to himself.

Or, to put it another way:

Picking up right where the first film left off, Laurie is taken to the hospital after supposedly killing the man who was responsible for the deaths of several people in the town of Haddonfield, Illinois. However, her stay at Haddonfield General becomes very brief when a very much alive Michael appears once more, brutally murdering everyone in the hospital to find his sister. Michael disappears, and Laurie survives the infamous Halloween massacre, but is still haunted by it years later. Laurie struggles to come to terms with her dark past, or at least forget it. But the supposedly dead Michael Myers has other plans, and as the anniversary of his massacre approaches, he returns to Haddonfield once more, with a family reunion planned that Laurie will never forget.

Here are some of the trailers that have been released so far.

Roy Rogers Returns! In The Meantime, Watch This Trio Of Western Entertainment!

Roy Rogers on Floodwall Mural painted by Rober...Image via Wikipedia

With the announcement that Roy Rogers will be returning to the silver screen in some form or another, along with Dale Evans and his trusty horse Trigger (see my previous post from today) I thought I would look around and see what I could find on the internet to share with you. So, here are two episodes of The Roy Rogers Show, which I found at Archive.Org, and a Roy Rogers movie which is playing at Joost.Com. Until the new movies start to arrive, enjoy these. The first TV episode is titled "Hard Luck Story", the second is "Phantom Rustlers", and the movie is titled "Sheriff Of Tombstone".

By the way, the photo that is posted with this article is Roy Rogers on Floodwall Mural painted by Robert Dafford, LaFayette, LA as part of a series of murals at his hometown, Portsmouth, Ohio. Portsmouth is also the hometown of riesen2b.

Roy Rogers Rides Again!

Roy Rogers & Dale EvansImage by Alan Light via Flickr

Good news for all of you old time cowboy and western friends. According to Variety.Com, Roy Rogers' iconic presence may be riding back onto the bigscreen in a planned film trilogy to be launched by financier/producer 821 Entertainment.

The Roy Rogers Family Entertainment Corportation has partnered with 821 Entertainment to launch a "King of the Cowboys" film trilogy as well as animated TV, interactive game and merchandising efforts.

The CEO of 821 Entertainment Group says that the planned film trilogy will "not be a biopic, and will not be a traditional Western, but rather a family fantasy adventure. Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger are quintessential figures of America, and we will introduce this franchise to a new audience while capitalizing on the millions of Roy Rogers fans worldwide."

The top Western box office star from 1943-1954, Rogers made more than 88 films with Evans and Trigger; produced and starred in 100 episodes of his own TV show; and appeared on more than 400 licensed items, with 120 million comic books sold.

Scorsese Embraces Horror And Suspense With "Shutter Island".

Leonardo DiCaprioImage via Wikipedia

Here's one movie from director Martin Scorsese that I'm definitely planning to go and see. From Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese, Shutter Island is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane. They run into trouble when they are deceived by others, a hurricane hits and an inmate riot traps them on the island.

Feature film rights to the 2003 novel Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane were first optioned to Columbia Pictures in 2003, but the rights lapsed back to the author. The author's representatives then sold the rights to the production company Phoenix Pictures, who hired screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis to script the novel for a film adaptation. The project was in development for a year. By October 2007, the project had developed into a co-production between the studios Columbia Pictures and Paramount Pictures. Director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who had worked together on three films, were both attracted to Shutter Island as their next collaboration. Locations like Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Nova Scotia were scouted.

I am probably in the minority when I say this, but Leonardo DiCaprio is not one of my favorite actors. However, judging by this trailer, it looks like he is finally doing a movie that I would be more than happy to see him in.

You can expect to find Shutter Island in your theater on October 2, 2009.

John Travolta And Robin Williams Bring On Comedy Mayhem In "Old Dogs"

In the family comedy tradition of Road Hogs, here is another Disney Comedy movie with John Travolta. Judging by the trailer, Old Dogs looks to be as funny as the Hogs. Watch it for yourself and see.

John Travolta and Robin Williams team up in the Walt Disney Company's Old Dogs, a family comedy that pairs the two as close business partners whose lives are thrown into disarray when twin seven-year-olds are put into their care. Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, co-stars, along with the couple's daughter, Ella, who makes her big-screen debut here. Wild Hogs helmer Walter Becker directs a script by Evolution scribes David Diamond and David Weissman, with producing duties going to Andrew Panay, Peter Abrams, and Robert Levy.
