"9" From Producer Tim Burton. Watch The Trailer

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

Usually when I see a film from Focus Features, I think high-brow and low-budget. They always seem to specialize in arthouse films. Or so I thought.

Indeed, the movie "9" has a pretty high pedigree, with Tim Burton as producer and Shane Acker as director. Also, this animated film has a voice cast that includes Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummer, and Martin Landau.

However, watching the trailer and seeing the fantastic animation in this film, I can only surmise that there is no way that this can be a low-budget movie. The trailer is infused with great style and makes you eager to rush out to a theater. Unfortunately, the film won't be released until September 9, 2009. In the meantime we will have to slog through the sludge that comes out over the summer. Can you tell I'm enthused about this movie? Watch the trailer and let your own enthusiasm begin!

According to TrailerAddict.Com, here is the plot summary:

9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood), who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive.

Score heard in latter half of trailer is "Welcome Home" from the band Coheed and Cambria.

Russell Crowe And Ben Affleck Headline Thriller "State Of Play".

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

From Universal Pictures comes this intriguing trailer starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck. To call it a thriller, judging by the trailer, would be an understatement.

So. What's the plot? TrailerAddict.Com gives this description:

Oscar winner Russell Crowe leads an all-star cast in a blistering thriller about a rising congressman and an investigative journalist embroiled in an case of seemingly unrelated, brutal murders. Crowe plays D.C. reporter Cal McCaffrey, whose street smarts lead him to untangle a mystery of murder and collusion among some of the nation's most promising political and corporate figures in State of Play, from acclaimed director Kevin Macdonald.

Handsome, unflappable U.S. Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is the future of his political party: an honorable appointee who serves as the chairman of a committee overseeing defense spending. All eyes are upon the rising star to be his party's contender for the upcoming presidential race. Until his research assistant/mistress is brutally murdered and buried secrets come tumbling out.

McCaffrey has the dubious fortune of both an old friendship with Collins and a ruthless editor, Cameron (Oscar winner Helen Mirren), who has assigned him to investigate. As he and partner Della (Rachel McAdams) try to uncover the killer's identity, McCaffrey steps into a cover-up that threatens to shake the nation's power structures. And in a town of spin-doctors and wealthy politicos, he will discover one truth: when billions are at stake, no one's integrity, love or life is ever safe.

Watch the trailer, and then on April 17, 2009, go to the theater and see the film!

"Serbis" (Service) Looks Like A Great Filipino Movie.

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

You don't often hear about a movie from the Philippines receiving a lot of critical acclaim. "Serbis" appears to be the exception.
The film, as described by TrailerAddict.Com:
Serbis, from acclaimed Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, is about the Pineda family, who operates and lives in a run-down movie house that shows dated sexy double-feature films. As they go about their daily activities, we get a glimpse of how the family suffers and deals with each other’s sins and vices. Preoccupied with their own personal demons, they are unmindful that inside their movie theater another kind of business is going on between the “serbis” boys (male prostitutes) and the gay patrons.

Don't let the fact that it deals with male prostitutes put you off as the film appears to deal with much more. Watch this trailer and you will see for yourself.

Here also, is the international trailer for the film, which is a totally different trailer than you have just seen. Incidentally, Mercedes Cabral is the beautiful actress you see in this film.

Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) Stars In "Free Style". Watch The Trailer.

freestyle_poster_good_2 To me, having watched the first two High School Musicals with my son, Corbin Bleu had the best acting chops of the entire cast.  Perhaps "Free Style", which opens February 6, 2009, will prove me right.  Watch this trailer and decide for yourself:

Here is a description of the film that was posted on Trailer Addict.Com.
The trailer for Free Style. Free Style stars High School Musical's Corbin Bleu in an uplifting story about a young man and his determination to win a coveted spot on the Grand National motocross racing team. "The Proposal" Here's A New Extended Trailer

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

I did a post previously for this movie with a shorter trailer. This new trailer runs over three minutes. In the previous post I said that this film looked like Sandra Bullock was back on top of her game. Watching this trailer, I reaffirm that statement.
Watch it and decide for yourself. The film arrives on June 12, 2009.

Trailer and description provided by TrailerAddict.Com.

When high-powered book editor Margaret (Sandra Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), who she's tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family (Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson, Betty White) and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another. With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.

Land Of The Lost: New Poster For The Will Farrell Film.

Land of the Lost wasn't supposed to open until July 17 of next year.  When Harry Potter moved into that date, Lost got moved up.  Here is the latest poster for the film, a remake of the 70's Saturday morning show, starring Will Ferrell.

A Christmas Show A Day: Ace Of Cakes

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

I admit it. I love some of the shows on The Food Network. My top favorites are "Bobby Flay's Throwdown", "Diners Drive-ins, & Dives", "The Chef Jeff Project", and "Ace Of Cakes". Ace of cakes deals with a specialty cake bakery headed by Chef Duff and the impossibly magnificent cakes they create.

This is their Christmas episode and they produce a cake for the 75th anniversary of the Rockettes Christmas spectacular as well as a cake and toys for the Ronald McDonald house. Watch it and discover "Ace of Cakes".

A Christmas Show A Day: Christmas Carol: The Movie.

Member of the Boxxet Network of Blogs, Videos and Photos

Part live action and part animation, Christmas Carol: The Movie is noteworthy in that Nicholas Cage and Kate Winslet are among the stars.  It's a British film based of course on the classic Charles Dickens story.  The music and songs were written, composed and performed by Julian Nott who also did the Wallace and Gromit theme tune.  Kate Winslet sings the theme song.  So, with just a few days left until the big holiday, through the courtesy of Fancast.Com, enjoy Christmas Carol: The Movie.

A Little Christmas Music

Having only started learning the piano three months ago, Tyler performs at his first recital at The Las Vegas Public Library located on Sahara and Fort Apache on December 20, 2008. The giggling in the background is from a mentally handicapped child, not anyone laughing at him. Tyler takes his lessons at Bonnie's Music Shop on Fort Apache at Tropicana.
