A Saturday Night Chiller Theater: The Vampire's Night Orgy.

Since it's now the weekend and you are tired of sitting at home flipping channels, and you have had your fill of college football for the day, why not sit back, relax, and prepare to be bloody mortified by this 1973 film of terror, courtesy of the Internet Archives.

A group of workers is traveling by bus to the town of Bojoni to work for an aristocratic family. The driver has a fulminating heart attack, and the group decides to drive to the near village of Tolnio instead, to spend the night and follow to Bojoni on the next morning. They find nobody in the apparently ghost city, but in the next morning, they meet the hospitable dwellers. Their bus has a problem in the engine, and they have to stay in Tolnio. Sooner they find that they are trapped in a vampire village.

Inkheart Makes It's Debut January '09.

A young girl's father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading those books aloud. When a power-hungry villain from a rare children's fable kidnaps the man, his daughter bands with a group of friends both real and imagined to set things right.

This, according to TrailerAddict.com, is the plot of a new Brendan Fraser film that opens right after the holiday season.

Usually, movies released at that time of year are considered DOA, and what's funny about it is if this preview is any indication,  they could probably have done well during the holiday season.  The movie is based on the fantasy novel trilogy  called Inkworld which was written by Cornelia Funke.

Besides Fraser, the movie also stars Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren,  and Andy Serkis.  Inkheart is directed by Iain Softley.  Softley is best known for K-Pax, and The Skeleton Key.

Green Hornet Rides Again! Stephen Chow To Direct.

Stephen Chow, director of the film "Kung Fu Hustle" has been tapped to film and costar in "The Green Hornet"

Already signed up to play the Green Hornet himself, is none other than Seth Rogan.  Chow will play the Hornet's inimitable chauffeur Kato.

The film is being produced by Columbia Pictures.  The film is currently scheduled to bow in theaters on June 25, 2010.

Beginning as a 1930's radio show, the Green Hornet has seen many different incarnations including a 1940's movie serial, a 1960's television series (Bruce Lee as Kato), and also in many different comic books.

The screenplay was written by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg.  Somehow, I don't think this film will have the same serious undertones as "The Dark Knight".

If this makes you feel nostalgic, here is a little clip I found of the opening segment of "The Green Hornet" TV series.

Knight Rider: Series Premiere. Watch It Here

In the series premiere, Mike's new mission brings him face to face with people from a past he does not remember.
Video Stream Provided By Hulu.com with limited commercial interruptions. I think the show has potential. The "Transformers" like Mustang is definitely the star of this show. Val Kilmer does a nice job as the voice of Kitt.

Sneak Peek Of "The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Update: Looks like our good friends at Fox have had this sneak peak removed from the site from where this video was embedded. If it shows back up, we'll repost it.

Update #2:  When that happens, sometimes you just get lucky and find a site that still has the video up, as is the case here.  I should have known I could rely on TrailerAddict.com

About five minutes of footage from the Keanu Reeves remake of the classic film, "The Day The Earth Stood Still.  This footage appeared last week on Fox TV as the lead in to "Fringe", the new J.J. Abrams show that is being highly promoted.

Directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, and John Cleese, you will be able to watch it in theaters on December 12.  Until then, enjoy the clip.

Mannix Season Two Release Date Confirmed.

I'm a few days late on posting this, but on September 9, CBS DVD and Paramount announced that they would be releasing Season Two of "Mannix" early next year.  And by early we're talking about January 6, 2009.

During the second season, Joe (Mike Connors no longer worked for Intertect and was on his own.  Joe Campanella, who played Mannix's boss was gone from the series, and was replaced by Joe's secretary, Peggy Fair (Gail Fisher).

During the twenty-five episodes of season two, viewers were treated to such guest stars as Jill Ireland,  Harry Dean Stanton, Slim Pickens, Sally Kellerman, Cloris Leachman, and Robert Reed.   All episodes will be presented in full screen video and English mono audio.  Total running time for your money will be 1277 minutes (that's 21 hours and 17 minutes folks.  If I get more information or a look at the covers are released, look for a future post.  Check the archives to see a post I made about this show being my favorite 60's detective show.

OK. No Need To Look Further. Fringe Is My Favorite New Show Of The Fall Season.

Having it's premiere earlier this week, I finally watched episode one of J.J. Abrams new show "Fringe" last night at Hulu.com.  I find myself often watching just a few minutes of Hulu before moving on to other videos.  Last night wasn't the case.

Fringe is the new X-Files, only better.  Starring Ana Torv as FBI agent Olivia Dunham, Fringe explores strange events, bioterrorism, and at this point who knows what else that are not a result of spooks or aliens, but from within impenetrable mega-corporations with secrets that have yet to be revealed.

The season premiere is a wild, exhilarating roller-coaster ride that takes you to the edge of suspense and then tosses you overboard.  Filled with surprises and twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end of the episode, Fringe does not disappoint.

If the premiere is any indication of what's to come on this Fox drama, you better fasten your seatbelts, because you're in for one heck of a ride.  No need to go to Hulu to watch the premiere, because  I have brought Hulu to you.

Get ready because here is J.J. Abrams "Fringe".

If you want to learn a lot more about "Fringe", you can visit the official website over at Fox by clicking here.

A Public Service Announcement

According to this 1970's public service announcement, it's for everybody. The jingle is pretty catchy and from the images shown, it looks like if you get it you'll be successful.

Two Films For The Christmas Holidays

The Christmas film season is a time for holiday fluff and also a time for Academy stuff.  Here are the trailers for two of those types of films.

The first one stars Vince Vaugn and Reese Witherspoon in a lighthearted film about a couple forced to have Christmas with their four families.

As TrailerAddict.com describes:

The trailer for Four Christmases. When upscale, happily unmarried San Francisco couple Kate and Brad find themselves socked in by fog on Christmas morning, their exotic vacation plans morph into the family-centric holiday they had, until now, gleefully avoided. Out of obligation—and unable to escape—they trudge to not one, not two,

but four relative-choked festivities, increasingly mortified to find childhood fears raised, adolescent wounds reopened... and their very future together uncertain. As Brad counts the hours to when he can get away from their parents, step-parents, siblings and an assortment of nieces and nephews, Kate is starting to hear the ticking of a different kind of clock. And by the end of the day, she is beginning to wonder if their crazy families' choices are not so crazy after all.

In the I deserve an Oscar category is Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman starring in the movie "Doubt".  Certainly no musical "Mamma Mia", TrailerAddict.com gives this description:

The trailer for Doubt. John Patrick Shanley’s 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt is a riveting exploration of paranoia and suspicion in the Catholic Church. Set in a Bronx parochial school in 1964—just as the Vatican II reforms begin to transfigure the Church—evidence of a

priest’s wrongdoing comes to light. Sister Aloysius, a strict school principal and traditionalist nun, faces the decision of a lifetime: Does she openly accuse a priest and give voice to her fear of his sinful actions, or does she bury her suspicions and leave room for doubt? This intense and personal power struggle between Sister Aloysius and Father Flynn ultimately calls into question both faith and justice in the shadows of this cloistered institution.

Whatever your preference, and I'm sure Pope Benedict would like neither, both of these films seem to be good choices for their respective genres.  Four Christmases opens on November 26.  You can watch Doubt beginning December 12.

Just How Negative Are Today's Campaign Ads?

Lately, you keep hearing about negative campaign ads between McCain and Obama, most of them less than truthful.  Here are an example of ads from this year's election cycle.

Thanks To A Website Called "The Living Room Candidate", which is run by The Museum Of The Moving Image, you can take a look at campaign ads all the way back to 1952.  It is a fascinating glimpse of politics through the years and also shows that in the last 56 years, not much has changed.  Here is just a small preview of some of the ads they have, starting with my favorite, an attack on Spiro T. Agnew from 1968.

With over 300 campaign ads, you can visit this website  for hours.  To go there, just click here.  To visit the Museum Of The Moving Image, you can click here.
