Clinton's Universal Health Care Plan Doesn't Pass The Smell Test

In other words, I think it stinks. I wonder how many Clinton supporters among the struggling blue collar workers would support her if they knew that not signing up for her health plan could result in your wages being garnisheed. And that it probably doesn't cover everyone. According to Newsweek.com:

Clinton stretches things a bit. Her plan – which, unlike Obama's, includes a mandate for individuals to get insurance – would leave out a million people or perhaps more, depending on how severe the penalties would be for those who don't comply. She won't say how her mandate would be enforced, but has said that she was open to the possibility of garnishing wages.

Clinton has not stated what the enforcement mechanism would be under her plan, and she has been evasive when responding to questions on this point. However, she recently said, after much prodding, that garnishing wages was a possibility, along with automatic enrollments or some measure through the tax system.

I don't know about you but I'm not too keen about having someone in office who is going to force you into something that you may not want because among other things, you can't afford it. And since there is no discussion of how much this plan is going to cost you, I don't want to take any chances. You can read the full article at Newsweek.com by clicking here.

BEST BUY Proves Once Again That They Should Be Called WORST BUY

Everyone I know that has ever bought a computer at Best Buy has nothing but bad things to say about them. I once bought a computer from them and after being harassed for more than 40 minutes about why I should buy their warranty, I vowed never to buy from them again. I already knew then how they had been prosecuted in other states for their tactics and lies when selling warranties, where salesmen receive big bonuses for selling them.

The people I know, who did buy warranties, found out exactly how worthless those warranties are when they try to get service, as so many things are not covered and they end up finding themselves with a big bill that they weren't expecting. My sister had such a bad experience with them, that she has never bought another one from them either.

Well, someone has finally wised up and has filed a 54 million dollar lawsuit against Best Buy after months of runaround about the computer she had taken in for repair. After being told by numerous people that it was being repaired, that it was waiting for parts, and that it was going to be returned soon, she found out that it had never even left the Best Buy store where she took it, and that in fact, it was either lost or stolen. So much for her personal information as her income tax returns were in the computer. Best Buy broke a law by failing to notify her that she was at risk of identity theft because of this.

Take my advice. If you absolutely insist on stopping at Worst Buy, stick to DVD's, video games, and cd's. Of course, for the most part, unless they are on sale, you'll see that their prices are ridiculously overpriced.

This video is of Raelyn Campbell talking to the Today Show about her lawsuit.

Hardball Offers Campaign Advice

Hardball's Chris Matthews and a panel of political analysts discuss the present state of the Clinton campaign and where she should head to improve her chances of winning. I don't think doing anything they offer will help her now, but it is still an excellent discussion and interesting video to watch.

Are Superdelegates Beginning To Turn On Hillary Clinton?

A discussion on Tucker about how Obama has gained 12 superdelegates while Clinton has lost three. Also discussed, is the desperation that is beginning to show in the Clinton campaign.

Union Support Swings Toward Obama

If Hillary is counting on blue-collar support from voters in Ohio, she just got a big jolt of reality, as two major blue-collar unions have announced their support for Barack Obama. One of my sisters in Ohio is a union organizer for one of these unions and their organization and influence in elections is about as strong as any political campaign could hope to have in their corner.

According to Newsweek:

Sen. Barack Obama won the support Friday of the 1.9-million member Service Employees International Union, his second endorsement in as many days from large labor organizations and a fresh sign of momentum in the Democratic presidential race with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"There has never been a fight in Illinois or a fight in the nation where our members have not asked Barack Obama for assistance and he has not done everything he could to help us," Andy Stern, the union's president, told reporters in announcing the decision.

Stern said that in the months since union leaders met with several Democratic candidates last fall, "the excitement has been building and building for Obama."

Bond Car Becomes Reality.

This video is not a special effect from a movie. It is a real car that can drive underwater, just like the one in the James Bond movie "The Spy Who Loved Me".

It’s called the “sQuba,” and conjures up memories of James Bond’s amphibious Lotus Esprit from “The Spy Who Loved Me.” That fictional vehicle traveled on land and, when chased by bad guys in a helicopter, plunged into the water and became an airtight submarine — complete with “torpedoes” and “depth charges.”

The concept car was developed by Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc. and is set to make a splash at the Geneva Auto Show next month.

Company CEO Frank Rinderknecht, a self-professed Bond fan, said he has been waiting 30 years to recreate the car he saw Roger Moore use to drive off of a dock.

The sQuba can plow through the water at a depth of 30 feet and has electrical motors to turn the underwater screw.

NBC News Celebrates 60 Years

From John Cameron Swayze smoking Camel cigarettes while reporting the news to Brian Williams, NBC has been reporting news through the best and worst of time. Of course, during my formative years it was Chet Huntley and David Brinkley. I had no idea until I saw this video that Tom Brokaw anchored the news for 20 years.

Hillary Clinton Attracts Racists According To Her Supporter, Gov. Ed Rendell of PA.

Gov. Ed Rendell is one of Hillary Clinton's most visible supporters. In a comment he made today, he said some white Pennsylvanians are likely to vote against her rival Barack Obama because he is black.
In remarks that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rendell told the editorial staff, “You’ve got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate,”
Rendell admitted to having won the Governorship thanks to the racist vote. The Governor cited his 2006 re-election campaign, in which he defeated Republican challenger Lynn Swann, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star, by a margin of more than 60 percent to less than 40 percent.
No comment was made as to where which group of voters he fit into, but I think we can guess which ones he would be partial to.

As of about 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time it appears that MSNBC's website is experiencing technical problems. I am unable to bring up their website at this time. Subsequently, videos from that website are not working. I will keep you updated.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend On Why She Endorses Clinton.

Basically she gives the same reasons that you've heard from every other Kennedy supporter (are they reading from a script or are they brainwashed drones?) Most disturbing about this interview--what is up with that woman's hairdo?

Big Wins, Big Money, Big Pleas, And Bad Campaign Manager

This is a sort of wrapup of today's campaign news with Obama sweeping the voting on the weekend, Clinton raising big money, both candidates wooing John Edwards for his support, and Clinton's campaign manager stepping down. All pretty interesting stuff.

Obama Appears On CBS's "60 Minutes".

This is probably one of the best interviews you will see of Senator Obama.

"Jaws" Legend Roy Scheider Dies At 75

Roy Scheider, the actor best known for his role as Police Chief Martin Brody in the thrilling blockbuster movie "Jaws," has died. He was 75.

Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, accprding to hospital spokesman David Robinson. The hospital did not release his cause of death.

However, hospital spokeswoman Leslie Taylor said Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.

Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss starred in the 1975 movie, "Jaws," which was widely hailed as the film that launched the era of the Hollywood blockbuster. It was the first film to earn $100 million at the box office.

Multiple myeloma (also known as myeloma or plasma cell myeloma) is a progressive hematologic (blood) disease. It is a cancer of the plasma cell, an important part of the immune system that produces immunoglobulins (antibodies) to help fight infection and disease. Multiple myeloma is characterized by excessive numbers of abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow and overproduction of intact monoclonal immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgD, or IgE) or Bence-Jones protein (free monoclonal κ and λ light chains). Hypercalcemia, anemia, renal damage, increased susceptibility to bacterial infection, and impaired production of normal immunoglobulin are common clinical manifestations of multiple myeloma. It is often also characterized by diffuse osteoporosis, usually in the pelvis, spine, ribs, and skull.

An Obama Victory Dance

Will Superdelegates Decide The Democratic Nominee?

A roundtable discussion of reporters on today's "Meet The Press". Journalists discuss whether it is fair or not for the 700 plus superdelegates to be the deciding factor in selecting the Democratic nominee should neither candidate not achieve enough voters delegates to receive the nomination. Known as superdelegates because they are free to cast their votes at the convention as they see fit, they are the object of an intensifying and potentially high-stakes charm offensive by the candidates and their supporters.
